Kamuela Andrade is one of the many reasons we must continue to have critical conversations and take action to achieve parity for Native Hawaiian medical students at JABSOM.  Kamu is now a second-year medical student and this is his inspirational story – so worth the watch!

He is achieving his dreams of becoming a physician with the support of our pathway programs and scholarships through the NHCOE Native Hawaiian Student Pathway to Medicine,  ʻImi Hoʻōla Post-Baccalaureate Program, the Queen’s Health System ʻImi Hoʻōla Scholarship, as well as the Dr. Sherry Teefey and Dr. Ram Bhagavan scholarships that Kamu received as an ʻImi Hoʻōla student.

Mahalo nui to Julie Inouye, Director of JABSOM Development, Aaron Mandich, Associate Director of JABSOM Development, and Deborah Dimaya, Interim Director of JABSOM Communications, for sharing his story.
