Dr. Chung-Eun Ha, Ph.D. is an associate professor of the Department of Native Hawaiian Health, at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). He earned his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences (Biochemistry) from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in 1999 and joined the faculty of JABSOM in 2001. Dr. Ha teaches medical biochemistry courses (12 credits) to the students of the ʻImi Hoʻōla post-baccalaureate program.
To help students in improving their understanding of medical biochemistry, Dr. Ha developed a textbook entitled “Essentials of Medical Biochemistry with Clinical Cases” with his mentor, Dr. N.V. Bhagavan (Professor emeritus, Department of Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology, JABSOM) of which the first edition (ISBN:9780120954612) was published by Acedemic press in 2011 and the second edition (ISBN:9780124166875) was published in 2015.
Dr. Ha also has more than 20 years of extensive research experience in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology. He has studied various aspects of the principal blood protein, human serum albumin (HSA). His research goal is to produce research outcomes that advance our understanding of certain disease processes which involve human serum albumin, and apply research findings to aid in identifying early markers for certain disease processes.
