Andrea Hepuapoʻokela Nacapoy Hermosura, Ph.D. is the Queen’s Health Equity Scholar and Assistant Professor. She was born and raised in Kāne‘ohe and is a proud graduate of Kamehameha Schools Kapālama campus. She is a Clinical Psychologist who earned her PhD from University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and completed her clinical training at the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System and I Ola Lāhui. She has a strong background in implementing evidence-based practices, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing with individuals from rural and underserved communities within the state of Hawaiʻi. Her research interests include acculturation, perceived racism and discrimination, cardiovascular disease, health disparities, community-based participatory research, and cultural safety.
